Signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between National Management Degree College and School of Journalism,
Yunnan University, China

National Management Degree College and School of Journalism, Yunnan University held a virtual signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 9th May, 2022 Principal of National Management Degree College and Professor and Head of Journalism Department on Myanmar side and Dr. Fang Jingyun, Professor and Principal of Yunnan University and Mr. Liao Shenqing, Professor and Head of School of Journalism, Yunnan University on China side signed MOU.

The signing of this MOU aims to strengthen the academic exchanges and research cooperation in promoting respective capacity building, mutual cooperation and academic and students exchanges between the National Management Degree College and School of Journalism, Yunnan University.

The virtual signing ceremony was held on Zoom online meeting. Principal of National Management Degree College first gave a welcome speech, and Mr. Liao Shenqing, Professor and Head of School of Journalism, Yunnan University offered brief remark. After the two sides introduced the faculty members who participated in the virtual signing ceremony, Principal and Mr. Liao Shengqing signed the MOU and exchanged the souvenirs.

Virtual Student Exchange held between National Management Degree College and School of Journalism, Yunnan University

The virtual student exchange ceremony between National Management Degree College,Myanmar and School of Journalism, Yunnan University, China was held on 17th March, 2023 via Zoom. In the ceremony, Principal of National Management Degree College, Dr. Ni Lar Myint Htoo delivered a welcome speech and Professor Liao Shengqing, Dean of School of Journalism, Yunnan University gave brief remark on the mutual cooperation.

After taking the group photos, the students of Journalism Department from National Management Degree College and School of Journalism, Yunnan University did their presentations. The students from National Management Degree College were divided into three groups and each group presented individual topics named, “Evolution of Newspapers in Myanmar”, “Radio Broadcasting Service in Myanmar” and “Television channels in Myanmar.” Then, the three groups of students from Yunnan University’s School of Journalism also presented about “How do young Chinese get news?”, “Does television still have a future?” and “Will the AI anchors replace the human anchors?”.

The two sides exchanged the views and ideas in the comment and discussion sessions and the participants talked about the media industry of Myanmar and China and media transformation in the digital era.

2nd Virtual Student Exchange Program held between
National Management Degree College and
School of Journalism, Yunnan University

The 2nd virtual student exchange ceremony between National Management Degree College, Myanmar and School of Journalism, Yunnan University, China was held on 2nd December, 2024 via Zoom. Dr. Khin Thida Nyein, Principal, Dr. Zin Mar Kyaw, Professor and Head, Dr. Cho Cho Thwin, Professor, Dr. Hsu Thiri Zaw, Lecturer, faculty members and students from Department of Journalism, National Management Degree College hosted the ceremony and Professor Zuo Xiaolin, Deputy Dean, Professor Wei Ping, Head of International Students’ Affairs, Professor Fang Xin and students from School of Journalism, Yunnan University attended the event. In the ceremony, Principal of National Management Degree Colleg, Dr. Khin Thida Nyein delivered a welcome speech and Professor Zuo Xiaolin Deputy Dean of School of Journalism, Yunnan University gave brief remark on the mutual cooperation and academic collaboration.

After taking the group photos, the students of Journalism Department from National Management Degree College and School of Journalism, Yunnan University did their presentations. The students from National Management Degree College were divided into three groups and presented about “Bridging culture through social media: Chinese temples”, “Media Consumption Trends in Myanmar” and “Infotainment Programs on social media”. The students from School of Journalism, Yunnan University share knowledge and information about “Bridging culture through film and television: The impact of Chinese TV dramas on young people in Myanmar”, “Analyzing ‘A lifestyle called Yunnan’ from a Communication Perspective” and “Multimodality Communication strategies for Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ethnic Minorities in Yunnan.”

During the discussion session, the faculty members and students from both sides discussed about the related topics and media and communication perspectives between the two countries. Through the event, the two sides have deepened their understanding of journalism, media and communication between Myanmar and China.
